As my daughter’s family continued to face rent increases at their apartment in Redwood City, I began thinking about possibly building an ADU on our property.  At the same time, I knew it would be difficult for me to do on my own. When I learned about free project management support being offered through San Mateo County, I knew this could be our chance to finally put our hopes into motion.  We could not be more excited to see this project come to life.  But there’s still some work to do wrapping up finishes and landscaping.  

Working with InspiredADU we are building a two-bedroom, two bath ADU with an open living area that has high ceilings and clerestory windows to let in lots of light.  The ADU shares a central courtyard with the main house and has its own private side yard too.  The layout also integrates the garage which serves as an office, creating the perfect live/work family campus for us all.
